Copy the tracks to the correct artist folder (presumably the folder with the rest of the tracks).Check the artist's name in Music > iTunes > iTunes Music are the same (check for spaces and capitalisations, too).Do the same with the tracks in the 'other' album. Select (right click) the track(s) in question and choose 'Show in Finder'.

Took a while to figure it out, but here are the steps I took: In case anyone is still having this problem, it's more an issue with iTunes than iOS the folders on the computer are out of whack and so tracks get copied to the iPhone as two separate albums. It's now 5 am and I'm finally going to bed.victorious!!! I then synced my phone again and HOORAY - I have one correct album at last!!!!! I hope this odd fix I came up with helps someone else. I then reloaded the files back into iTunes - using the iTunes menu to add file to library, I selected all ten songs and added them. I right clicked on each of the first three (problem) songs and clicked on "Take Ownership" for each of them.

Then, in my Windows Explorer, I went to the album folder. *****Anyway, here's what FINALLY did the trick for me - I deleted the complete album from iTunes. I now have them all manually backed up in a folder on my pc, as 10 keeps messing up my playlists, too, but I digress. BTW, I'm on version 10 because I had to uninstall iTunes 11, as it was a real piece of crap - deleted my entire library sans ONE of the 4000+ songs and killed all my playlists, too. Grrrrrr! I tried every possible tweak to the files in iTunes 10 and it was really ******* me off. When I remove the "The" from the Artist Name altogether, they correctly sort, but when I put it back the move under "T" again.Īdding 123 in the comments did not even work for me on this one Paul Simon album, as it refused to stop creating two albums on my phone - the first with all 10 tracks, the second with only tracks 4-10, but if I deleted the second album with tracks 4-10, the first album then only had tracks 1-3 left in it. I tried the trick above but that does not foce them to correctly sort. All other artists that begin with "The" correctly sort on all of my devices. "Artist" is "The Crystal Method" and "Sort Artist" is "Crystal Method"). The Crystal Method under the letter "C") on my iMac in iTunes 11, and I have double checked the metadata to ensure that the "Sort Artist" field does not contain the word "The" in it for all of these (i.e. These are recent (after iOS 6) purchases. I have have following artists correctly appearing in my iMac's iTunes library, but thye appear under the letter "T" in all of my iDevices because of the "The" at the front of thier name: Ok, since you did so well, now solve this one for me. The next time it happens, remove "123" from the comments.

So i have to force update the metadata by editing on my iTunes (just add something like "123" to the comments of the every song in the album) and wait a min or 2 it will be updated on iTunes match and pushed to your phone. In any case, I suspect the metadata of the album on the phone (or cloud) is seriously screwed, and there is no setting on the iphone to resync just the metadata (or is there?). So there will be a bunch of songs with sort name, and others without.

There's only one thing that may or may not be related, song names starting with "The", are automatically assigned a sort name without the "The", and there's no way to remove that. I went through all the metadata and everything classifying an album that should be the same, is the same (album name, album artist, sorting, artwork, compilation mode etc). track 5,6,7,8,9 in Mr AZ is separated into another album with the same name.duh. On the iPhone they start out as normal, then suddenly one day they split up into 2 albums.

On iTunes PC they are perfectly fine, in their respective albums. Have the exact same problem with some purchased albums (Jason Mraz - LOVE and Mr AZ to be exact)
